Living Wills

A “Living Will” is more formally called an “Advance Decision” and is a statement which expresses and records your wishes concerning certain medical procedures, which are/are not to be followed in the event of your loss of mental capacity. A valid Advance Decision is legally binding on Health Care professionals. Alternatively, a Living Will may record your beliefs on such procedures for the family to consider should a difficult decision with regard to your health have to be made (this is known as an “Advance Statement”).
